About
“I really enjoyed working with Geraldine. She came along just at the right time and did the majority of the writing and editing for my new website. She listened to my ideas and was able to articulate these in the written word in a clear and concise manner. She helped me gain clarity about the message that I wanted to relay to my clients and did a superlative job in helping me deliver that message on my website. I am hiring her again to help me with brochure and other promotional materials. I would highly recommend Geraldine and Meerkat Communications for their writing and editing skills.” – Gerrianne Clare , President of Clare Consulting & the Family Guidance System.

About Geraldine Eliot, Company Director

Since company founder, Geraldine Eliot, penned her first epic entitled King Noggin at Age 6, she knew she wanted to be a writer. Failing that, a teacher. And she’s managed to do both at the same time.
While completing her MA in English Studies at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, she not only taught courses such as Film, Media, and English Language and Literature, but she filled the role of Arts and Entertainment Editor for Varsity Newspaper, sub-edited a career advice magazine, put together course manuals, and acted as a curriculum advisor to incoming students.
Geraldine has a diverse portfolio of creative and business writing and editing experience. She has contributed to print and online magazines, has had her poetry published, and has written and edited various business websites. She has worked as a content developer and editor for the online destination guide, Wordtravels, and its companion site, Mytripreport.com. She also contributed regular articles on a range of topics to the independent online magazine, Suite101.com.
Additionally, she has taught Business and Technical Communication at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Burnaby, BC. She still teaches Business Communication and Technical part time at BCIT, focusing on Writing for the Web – part of BCIT’s Technical Writing Program.
Passionate about social media, Geraldine’s personal blog, The Canadian Chronicles, was a runner up in the 2009 South African Blog Awards in the Best Overseas South African Blog category , and she is an active Tweeter. A firm believer in knowledge sharing and community building, she has volunteered as the Marketing Co-Ordinator and served as the Director of Communications for Wired Woman Society, a non-profit organization focused on education, networking and mentorship for woman in technology, new media and science. She currently volunteers in a communication role for Education Without Borders. She had also delivered a number of workshops for private companies, business societies, and NPOs.
